Sorry for the silence over the past weeks. Things have been so crazy! I just finished with my last critique though, and it feels great. I got a lot of positive feedback and some negative, but overall I'm really happy with how everything went. I'm just so happy it's all over. I just have to finish cleaning out my studio and hand in the keys by next week.

This Friday is the opening for the Multidisciplinary and Sculpture senior thesis shows. If anyone has time from 5-9pm you should stop in. It'll be located in a bunch of different locations in Hamilton Hall--the great hall, Gallery One, the sculpture gallery, and rooms 303-307. This is the first year that we have a graduating class in the Multidisciplinary major, so it's really exciting.

Well, ladies and gentlemen~ Next week I will be sporting a black cap and gown, tassel on the side, smiling, laughing, crying with family, friends and classmates at the Academy of Music next Thursday.

Originally I had some long post about things that went on here with this project, etc, etc.

And then I got to thinking: who cares? :P

So anyway...

To the seniors of this project, congratulations! We made it! To the juniors: good luck! You can do it! And to those who take the time to read this and to learn about us, thank you. For me, it's been a great four years on and off the blog. I've grown as a student, as a person, as a designer. Should my account still be available later in the year, I may come back for a surprise appearance, though that is highly unlikely. I invite you all to check out my portfolio and my blog there. The blog on my website is more of a place to update about jobs and the website, not so much personal life. I think I've reached the end of the road for that kind of blogging. I'll miss it, but it's for the best.

Thanks again!

My good friend Kaitlin got a citation for her degree project! I knew she would! AHHHH!

I'm super excited for her!
:D

It's frustrating when a teacher tells you they are "available" via email, but they don't get back to you at all, or so late in the timeframe that it was pointless to even email them.

Also, I've decided not to put my degree project online to show my teacher because I feel like I'll just be getting more to edit when I don't have time to do that. I'm almost done and I'm happy with what's going on in my project, so I'm going to just refine, finish, and present. I'm going to become Mr. Salesman. :)

I'm almost out of here! :D Degree project presentation tomorrow. I have to be there literally all day. 8 am for "opening remarks," 8:30 starts the first group's presentation (I'm in the first group), then helping out with the lunch that's happening for us that day, then I have to sit the frig around until 6:15 when they plan on having closing remarks. Sometimes being a commuter kinda really sucks. Haha~ I'm going to ask my friend if I could go to her apt with her after lunch to hang out. :\ Not like I have anywhere else to go.

LAST DAY OF CLASSES FOR ME TODAY.

Minus next Wednesday, but that doesn't count.

:D

This week is the last week of classes.

Next Wednesday I have a make–up class in advanced type.

Next Thursday I have my degree project presentation.

Next Friday Active Territory opens.

The following Thursday I have my final crit.

The following Friday I might be working since it's prom weekend. It is also our senior semi–formal. I will not be attending.

The following Wednesday is the senior awards ceremony and set–up for both the Rosenwald–Wolf Gallery for our standing senior exhibit and also for our one–night senior show at the Marketplace Design Center. The show is that night.

The following Thursday is graduation.

The following Saturday I'm having a party.

And then after that, it's summer vacation until I get a job.

Oh life.

Have you ever ridden the fan? It's an amazing ride. I know what your thinking, "I just bought a car. How can I afford the stain repelling pants that would be needed to ride the fan?" And really that's a normal question. Should you work at Old Navy, you can get a 50% discount at Banana Republic so you should be alright.
Last time I rode the fan was Wednesday. It was pretty crazy. I had just gotten done eating this angry grouping of Mangos when I decided to strap in. I've got a three blade fan so naturally I put a good layer of peanut butter on my knee before I started the fan. Now it's an old fan so she runs on diesel and has a pull start motor. You ever try to pull start a diesel engine? Yea, I guess we all have...have what?

This is the part of the semester where everyone looses their minds. Less than three weeks left of my junior year, but the distance from now until then seems impossible...

Thank god this weekend is Easter, and I'll be home. For some reason working on homework at home is always so much more productive than working here. I'm leaving tomorrow morning and can't wait. It's also the first time my mom, dad, and sister will all be home together in quite some time.

Next week are season auditions for the fall shows. Some interesting options, (High Fidelity, First Lady Suite, In the Blood..) and because of my minor in musical theatre, I'll be auditioning, so in the midst of locking in a monologue & song right now.

Dessa Rose- the last show of the season opens tonight and runs two weekends. A good friend of mine, Michael Leon, designed the set and from what I've seen its gorgeous. (Not surprising, coming from him..) I won't get to see it until next weekend, but I'm so stoked.

Alpha Psi Omega is putting up a production of The Vagina Monologues, in support of V-Day, a national organization against women's abuse. I'm so proud of the girls, and all the work that has gone into this production. I'll make sure to update next week details about the production.

In addition to all the school stuff- my new roommates and I just signed our lease on a new house! I'm moving out of my beloved place 5 blocks from school (lots of mice problems, house is just too old) Plus two of my roommates are traveling abroad next semester. I'm moving in with three other theatre majors, and can't wait. We found a perfect rowhouse in graduate hospital which was just renovated and looks brand new. I move in in a month!

On top of all that- I'm prepping for finals, juries and evaluations. 3 more weeks. 3 more weeks. Eek.

Below are some photos! Descriptions Below

Hi guys.

I got an email today from the administrative assistant in the GD department saying that I've won an award and that I'm required to attend the award ceremony on May 18. :) I need to RSVP. RENDEZ–VOUS S'IL VOUS PLAÎT.

How exciting.

Also, how inconvenient that the awards ceremony would be on May 18. I'm afraid I won't be able to make the rounds with my committee–mates when we have to go pick everything up for the catering part of the show. YOW. I gave my committee–mate Liz a heads up so we can talk about that later.

EVERYTHING IS TRYING TO MAKE LIFE DIFFICULT.

Breakthrough this week: I think I found my homework niche, though it's...you know, THE END OF THE SEMESTER. I got all of my homework done (or at least, to a point where I can relax and breathe before class) this week without staying up über late. Not that I'm capable of staying up late, anyway.

Get this—I spent 3/4 of Sunday doing my Problem Solving work (corporate ID, ftw?), 1/4 of it working on my project for Advanced Type. I spent 3/4 of Monday working on my Advanced Type project, and 1/4 on my degree project. Tuesday after math I finished up my Advanced Type project (just a prototype), and worked on my degree project. Wednesday I got to go home early and I spent the entire rest of the day/evening working on my degree project. Today, after the catering meeting, I dropped my car off to get inspected (because I'm an idiot and didn't realize my inspection sticker expired in January), drove my dad's car home (because he dropped his off to get inspected...his didn't expire), then I came home started working on my degree project. It's 8:41 and I have almost everything coded! I just have one more section, then I have to document my research (joy), and then code some last minute things. Tomorrow before class, since I'm no longer part of AT, I can spend the morning working on my CD packaging. I found a way to make this really nice looking flower-y package that I think will be appropriate for the CD. Then I can refine my intros.

The skies are suddenly clearing up. :)

So, I registered for classes last night. For next semester I need liberal arts elective credit. I realized there aren't really any classes that are available for me to take that I want to take. I wound up only registering for one liberal arts class and I'll have to take the rest of them my last semester.

When I look through the catalog, there are so many classes that I'd love to take, but that I haven't seen actually run. One that I really wish would run is Ethics. I'm thinking of going to the dean of the liberal arts department and seeing if there's a chance of it running my last semester.

So these are the classes I did wind up signing up for:

Projects/Critique
Sculpture III
Bookbinding Methods
Relief/Monotype
Zen Buddhism
Fine Arts Internship

16.5 credits

My piece didn't sell in Art Unleashed, but someone did see it and offer me an internship opportunity at Grounds for Sculpture. He seemed to like my work a lot, and happened to be one of the few people who stopped to try and understand it. It was a piece that required people to read about 4 sentences, and unfortunately, people don't seem to like reading. haha oh well
